About the Phones
It wouldn't have taken long for you to realize that both the phones are very similar in everything but price. You would be surprised to know that the price of Lumia 800 was recently reduced! Don't be surprised if they do it again! Only Nokia could explain the difference between these 2 phones.
No doubt Lumia 800 is definitely way behind the competition. But, considering the quality of Nokia and the promise of Windows you might want to consider it.
The Lumia 710 on the other hand is definitely a bargain. No android phone would give you a 1.4Ghz processor for under 15k. You might also have a look at Samsung Omnia W I8350 which offers an AMOLED screen and VGA secondary camera at Rs.14,629.
All these phones offer a free 25GB Windows Live Sky Drive Storage.

Should you buy it?
You can buy it if and only if you are okay with the following conditions
  • You don't spend much time with your Phone except for what it is built for. In other words, No Tweaking.
  • You are not an Apple fan & You cannot afford one.
  • You don't want to use Video Calling. What!? Yes, you heard right. Neither of the Lumias phones have a secondary camera.
The Microsoft Factor
Much of Nokia's hopes lie with Microsoft. Recently, the two companies spent around 18 Million euros for Windows app Development. Currently, their app space isn't impressive at all.
Microsoft is bound to announce the Windows 8 soon. That could be a crucial time for Microsoft and the Computing World. Experts believe Microsoft has a great opportunity, if they utilize their desktop dominance properly.

HTC - More Price Slashes

Just a while back, I wrote about the price drop of HTC Desire HD. Well, now HTC has got all guns blazing with the following price cuts.

HTC Incredible S Rs.20,020
Desire S Rs.18,839
HTC Sensation Rs.22,000

Head over to saholic.com to grab 'em.

Surely these 3 deals are way better than the Desire HD deal. You need wait no more, cause there are no better mobiles out there except the Galaxy S2. Needless to say, Samsung will not slash the price of its one and only good handset.

Hold on, if you want things like beats Audio, wait for price cuts in Sensation XE and sensation XL. Though, they will compete against Galaxy S2 in the high end phones.

Specs of the 3 phones

Processor
Desire S 1GHz Snapdragon CPU with Adreno 205 GPU
Incredible S 1GHz Scorpion CPU with Adreno 205 GPU
Sensation 1.2GHz Scorpion CPU with Adreno 220 GPU

Check the Dell XPS 15Z at Amazon

Cut straight to the chase. Here are the specs. I have just mentioned those that matter.

15.6 inch Full HD Display [Hard to get this at this price range]
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7-2640M dual-core processor (3.5 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology; 6 MB L3 cache) [Top of the line Processor]
500 GB SATA hard drive (7200 RPM) [Good thing that it is 7220rpm and not 6000rpm; 500GB is not impressive, though it is not an issue these days with external storage devices]
6 GB of installed DDR-3 RAM [Maximum is only 8 GB and not 16. Believe 8 is sufficient for a long time to come]
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M graphics [Good for Occasional Gaming. Considering the price, this is what you could expect]
8-cell battery [Tested to last a 4h 36min on a battery test. Not comparable with MacBook, but again consider the price]
Backlit Chiclet-style keyboard [Nice and comfortable keyboard and touchpad]
Bluetooth 3.0
2 ultra-fast USB 3.0 ports [A must these days]
Summary
A MacBook competitor that competes mainly because of the price. All that considering the deal below.
Other notebooks you might want to check are the HP Envy, Samsung 7 Series. I don't mention the other brands because they look good on paper, but is still quite difficult to put your money on them.

HTC Desire HD Price Drop

Desire HD Price Drop ? What phone are we talking about here. To refresh your memory, go back a few years when HTC was ruling the android market. To the time when HTC Desire was a phenomenal success. Desire HD is the update to the original Desire.

Now, Why the  price drop ?
It was on expected lines though, we didn't know which phones were going to get the price cut after MWC-2012 where the world witnessed the launch of the quad core phones. HTC launched its flagship device, the HTC One X, a quad core phone with Nvidia Tegra 3.

Have a look at the spec sheet of Desire HD
Dimensions 123x68x11.2 mm
Processor 1 Ghz Scorpion CPU Adreno 205 GPU
GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Mhz
UMTS 900, 2100 Mhz
Data HSDPA 14.4 Mbits/sec HSUPA 5.6Mbits/sec
Navigation GPS, A-GPS
Display 4.3 inches (800x480 resolution with pixel density 217 ppi)
Battery 1230 mAh
System Memory 768 MB RAM
Built-in Storage 1.5 GB
Camera 8 megapixels (720p HD Video recording) with Dual LED Flash
Android Version 2.3
Extend memory via microSD card slot
Bluetooth 2.1
USB 2.0
DLNA Compliant

Why you Should Consider ?
One of the best deals at the current time. 4.3 inch screen and 8mp camera are strong points to consider. Also, HTC has promised ICS update for the device.

Things to think over
This is quite an old handset, launched in September 2010. Biggest drawback is the absence of a front facing camera. Battery life of other phones has got better the last few years and will only get better (You can still get an extended battery, but nobody would want to spend extra for a new phone). You don't get the latest improvements in Camera or the new Beats Audio.

Summary
This is a great deal indeed. But the question is what other phones are getting a price slash ? If so, how long do we wait for it.

And by the way, the new price is 18,990. Available at saholic.com.
